Plymouth Locomotive Works began in Plymouth as a would be auto manufacturer, J. D. Fate. But when it's first prototype fell short of company goals they reconstructed it into an industrial locomotive. National Fireproofing bought it and the company went into production. They were merged into Fate-Root-Heath Company, and then renamed into Plymouth Locomotive Works. The usual construction uses a gasoline engine driving a transverse variable clutch transmission, or four speed transmission and reversing transverse gearbox, and chain drive to the axles. These engines could be built for you or sent to you in a kit and constructed at your plant. My thanks to Wikipedia and Ohio Vintage Coal Co. for their information. Some information from personal knowledge.
Unfortunately I can no longer find Ohio Vintage Coal Co.
So far the only Plymouth photos I have are of WWF 52.
