Safe Handeling leased the Rockland branch for a few years between 2000 and 2003, and operated freight service only from Brunswick to Rockland on Locomotive Leasing Partners (LLPX) leased engines.
This line was built as the Knox & Lincoln in 1872. Originally it started at Woolwich, on the other side of the Kennebec from Bath and went to Rockland.
