The Maine Central Lower Road is but a shadow of it's former self, split up between two railroads, incomplete, and only sparse freight service. Yet, most of the rail is still intact.
Several shortlines have come and gone on the line, usually operating from Brunswick up the Rockland Branch. I have pictures from the Maine Coast, Safe Handling Rail, Maine Eastern, and Central Maine & Quebec.
Recently Amtrak has begun to opperate out of Brunswick for it's trips to Boston on the Downeaster. This uses about a 16 mile section of the line from Royal Junction to Brunswick.
