Atchinson, Topeka, & Santa Fe rebuilt a number of it's SD24s and called them SD26s. They differed in air brake details and had a new air filtration system. The EMD 16-567D3 engine got a 645 power assembly and the electrical system got upgraded as well. This gave them a higher horsepower rating of 2,625. My thanks to Wikipedia for the information.
